my favorite things about my haircut

The pile of braids that are no longer connected to my head.

Jake sticking them in his hat and the braids bouncing up and down as he walked.

Verity not wearing gloves and looking like she has been wearing a horcrux ring a little too long.

Another favorite is how much Mike loves it. He was giddy like a little boy and kept touching it.
I think its pretty cute too. Now I just need to work on styling it as well as she does.

Thieving varmints

The other night on our way home we noticed a helicopter with a spot light flying around looking for someone, which isn't an uncommon thing in our neck of the woods.
We pulled up to our humble abode and our neighbor was on his cell phone by our car and informed us that we had been robbed! He caught them red handed and called the cops. They hopped on their bikes and neighbor jumped in his car to chase after them. What a hero! He chased them half a mile down the road but lost them when they went down an alley that was too small for his car. Fortunately since he called the police so quickly the cops were able to catch two of the three guys.

Now we have this lovely gaping hole in our dash.

The best part of the story is, these idiots were basically asking to get caught. Let me tell you all the things they did wrong.

1. It was 8:30 at night. In a neighborhood that people often take nightly walks in.
2. They were using a giant spotlight to see in the car, which drew attention to themselves.
3. The car was parked on the road, visible to anyone walking by, especially with a spotlight and three shady teenagers in it.
4. They left their bikes laying in the road so it was obvious that our civic was not their vehicle.
5. They were wearing wife beaters, basically a crime in itself.
6. They touched a bunch of our CD's which the policeman informed us is the easiest thing to get fingerprints off of, and then left the fingerprinted CD's in the car.
7. They didn't even steal our harkin's free popcorn t-shirt that we always keep in our glove compartment. Which may or may not have been the first thing I checked...

We decided we are pressing charges against because they stole from us, and because they are just plain stupid.

white trash party

Mikes buddy had a white trash birthday bash.

So of course we jumped at the chance to get our nasty on. And our nasty was on.
I gave myself a middle part, what I like to call the bootycrack. Then I feathered the heck out of my bangs. Gave myself a preggo belly and a black baby.

And then there is Mike. Ohhhhh Mike. I have never been so unattractive to husband of mine in his cut off flannel shirt and shorty shorts. The crowing jewel was his nasty hair and bright orange hat.

Creepy face.
*Disclaimer: I am not racist and am not implying that having African American children is trashy, but implying that having multiple mates in such a short period of time is.

They did some sweet skim boarding which the boys loved.

Okay so our costumes were awesome. But let me tell you what sucks....

Number one: We were the only ones that dressed up. Not even the host and hostess dressed up to their own "white trash birthday bash". So everyone was looking all cute and I had feathered bootycrack bangs.

Number two: We didn't know anyone there. And my outfit wasn't quite the impression I want to make when making new friends.

Number three: Literally half of the girls there were pregnant. And I had a fake pregnant belly. Slightly awkward.

Number four: So remember black baby? She was the coolest part of my costume so naturally I was holding her the whole time. Then some of their friends showed up. They just happened to be.... wait for it... A white couple with two black kids. I put the black baby on the table and sat as far away from it as possible.

Summer kick off!

Last night at 9:00 I had a grand idea. I called Mama and when she answered I started whispersinging, "summer! summer! summer!" from high school musical 2. She thought I was weird. Then I told her we were going to kick off summer in the morning with a breakfast made by me and lovely morning swim. Breakfast/morning swims are the best.

I texted sister in laws to bring themselves and their kiddos and it was a party.

I made tons french toast with strawberries and brought some yummy fruit.
 mmmmm

Me: "Stella, smile for the camera"
Stella:
 Me: "eek." *snap picture*

Me and my baby girl. I call her "my baby girl". It makes me feel like she's mine. Muahahah. I'm not sure if she likes me as much as I like her.

Look at that smile! Rhett is one good lookin kid.

Of course the little girls must wear nana's sunhat.

In case you were wondering, I do realize I only take picures of the little people. I can't help it, the camera just comes out when they come around. Mike gets offended that I have no pictures of him and I, or any adults for that matter. I am trying to be better. But lets be honest, would you rather see Mike and I's face or this cutie?

That's what I thought.

Last day of school

This was my first year working in first grade and let me tell you it will not be the last. I loved it so much and I loved every single one of my little peeps. I also love this lady for teaching me so much about being a teacher. I learned so much about classroom managment. I witnessed her insane energy and her ability to captivate little minds and make learning fun. When I am a teacher and need a pick me up, or some energy or excitement I will observe her teaching for 10 minutes and my burn-out will be cured.
I used to call her kitty kat because her name is Kat and then she told me to call her meowmeow. That makes her even cooler.

First graders are hilarious. I'll always remember one day meowmeow was teaching a lesson on plurals, not that interesting. She was so excited and crazy about it though, the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. At one point little Jose G. couldn't even contain his excitement and his eyebrows shot up and he gasped and covered his mouth in excitement and was just sitting there, listening and giggling with excitement. About plurals. Awesome.

I like to watch the kids when she's teaching. They are all looking straight at her with smiles on their faces. Seriously guys sometimes I don't know if this classroom is real life.

I love first graders.

I will close with this lettle gem.

Remember when your teacher told you they didn't have favorite students? They secretly did.

On the Fence

Pros of long hair

can do a lot of things with it
Easy to pull back
its long!

Cons of long hair

I only style it like once every two weeks. Every other day its just pulled back in a pony, half pony, or bun.
Even when I style it, it never looks as good as it's supposed to.
It's hot.
Mike hates it.
It takes forever to dry.

Pros of short hair

Faster to style.
Not as hot and heavy.
Mike loves it short.

Cons of short hair

I finally have long hair!

I would keep it long if I could actually wear it in any of these ways..

Short?

Peeps, what should I do??

Once I had some pictures on the camera but I looked for the camera cord for two seconds, couldn't find it and so no pictures. But now the cord is found. And the blog is back in business.

Field trip to the rodeo with some of my cutie second graders.

Girl party. Me Livy and Stella dipped strawberries while the other girls sewed dresses. Because sewing is the worst and chocolate with strawberries is amazing. Doesn't Livy look so cute with her new glasses? I always wished I was a four eyes. So sometimes I steal her glasses and pretend they are mine.

Easter Pageant with the in-laws. I love my second family.

 Jorgie and random hand.

Easter dinner at my mom and pops. Rachel, Grandma Jean and Roxy Jean

We did a little passover feast in honor of Easter.

Last but not least....

Our newest nephew arrived! Little precious Danny boy!
The first grandbaby on the Grubbs side. He lives in Alaska and we both CANNOT wait to meet him.
 I dig babies.

And I dig being an auntie. Observe.

And I cant wait to put my aunti/snuggle skills to work with lil Danny.
