Happy Birthday husband of mine.

Yesterday Mike turned 23. It was a happy day. I've been looking forward to this day for a long time. I had a plan and it worked out magnificently.
Back in May or so we decided I could get a table if Mike could get an ipod. Keep in mind that he has been coveting one for like 5 years and now it was finally within his reach. I got my table but Mike wanted to wait until September for the ipod because he knew they would come out with a newer one. That was the deal. This semester our schedules changed to more school and less work and some added expenses we didn't have last year.
A few weeks ago I sat him down and calmly said that we shouldn't get an ipod because our finances were less stable than they were before. I was really nice about it and he agreed but was disappointed. I bought him other birthday presents from our joint checking account which he regularly checks. So he knew how much I spent, which was not as much as an ipod. The night before I ran on over to the apple store and purchased a brand new 32 gig ipod, wrapped it up, and hid it in the side pocket of my purse.

Woke up early and made biscuits and gravy (Mikes favorite).
Did my hair and make up in his favorite ways.
When we came home from work/school he opened his decoy gifts.
Went shopping to pick out a shirt for his sisters upcoming beach wedding.
After he got out of the car, I pulled the little bundle of hipness out of my purse. I came around and told him I forgot something and shoved it in his hand. He opened it up and low and behold... his dream gift!
He was so happy and I was so happy that he was happy.
In the words of Michael Scott,
"Presents are the best way to show someone how much you care. It is like this tangible thing that you can point to and say 'Hey man, I love you this many dollars-worth'”.
Then we went to dinner and played a new game with the Grubbs fam bam and had a fantastic day!
Mike kept saying that he felt so loved all day. I'm so grateful for everyone that made him feel special. His desk was decorated at work, a few friends took him to lunch and we both had so much fun with his family.
This is him playing with his new toy.

I love him so much.
