Maui!

I was in paradise for the past week. It was amazzzziiiinnnngg. My husbands sister Jamie got married in Maui so us and the in-laws took took advantage of an awesome vacation. When I got married I got an amazing husband AND a new family! Score! We all had a blast together. The week was jam packed with Jamies wedding festivities and our own vacation plans. Take a look at some pics and be jealous that you weren't me for a week.

Candid

Beachy beach.

We did the worlds longest zipline. It was basically awesome. There were 8 different lines on the tour and the last one was the longest and fastest. It was 2/3ds of a mile and got you going 55 to 60 miles an hour. Mike and I went off by ourselves for a day and did the zipline tour. AWESOME. This is us waiting at one of the lines to go. Aloha.

Snorkel!

Jamie had a lot planned for all of us family and friends that came to the wedding. We did a brunch one day and all the ladies went and got our nails done. Another day we did a private yoga session on the beach. It was super simple because it was all levels of people. We mostly did stretching but it was pretty cool. Our teacher was hilarious and she took this of us being coconut trees?

Jamie and Dave also planned a BBQ on the top of their condo complex roof for all the family and friends. This is the whole gang and two of Jens friends that also came!

Wedding time
What a happy day. The place of the wedding was GORGEOUS with the ocean spraying waves on the rocks just feet from where they were married. Jamie looked amazing in her dress and they looked so happy together.

My Parents-in-law walking Jamie down the isle.

The ceremony was beautiful. Their wedding vows to each other were especially sweet. Side note: the phrase "till death do us part" and "as long as you both shall live" are sad words to me. I think the majority of people believe in some sort of afterlife and it makes me sad that their marriage ends at death and doesn't go forward through time. I hope Jamie and Dave choose to make their marriage eternal someday.

After the wedding they served appetizers and unlimited drinks. We all lounged around on some comfy couches and chairs and chatted.

After dinner they DJ PUMPED up the music we all did some crazy dancing. Mikes dad tried to do the moon walk and I think I peed a little from laughing so hard. Later on they even had a fire dancer come put on a show for us!
Good day.
Pretty pics

I love me some good Hawaiian food.

And some more good Hawaiian food

And some more good Hawaiian food
The end.
Sorry this post has been not well thought out in the writing department. I feel like Ive left so much out of what we did the rest of the week.
It was fantastic.
I miss it already.
Back to real life. It makes me sick to think of all the school work I'll be doing this week.
Memories of sweet sweet Maui will live forever in my heart and on my blogggity-blog-blog.

Happy Birthday husband of mine.

Yesterday Mike turned 23. It was a happy day. I've been looking forward to this day for a long time. I had a plan and it worked out magnificently.
Back in May or so we decided I could get a table if Mike could get an ipod. Keep in mind that he has been coveting one for like 5 years and now it was finally within his reach. I got my table but Mike wanted to wait until September for the ipod because he knew they would come out with a newer one. That was the deal. This semester our schedules changed to more school and less work and some added expenses we didn't have last year.
A few weeks ago I sat him down and calmly said that we shouldn't get an ipod because our finances were less stable than they were before. I was really nice about it and he agreed but was disappointed. I bought him other birthday presents from our joint checking account which he regularly checks. So he knew how much I spent, which was not as much as an ipod. The night before I ran on over to the apple store and purchased a brand new 32 gig ipod, wrapped it up, and hid it in the side pocket of my purse.

Woke up early and made biscuits and gravy (Mikes favorite).
Did my hair and make up in his favorite ways.
When we came home from work/school he opened his decoy gifts.
Went shopping to pick out a shirt for his sisters upcoming beach wedding.
After he got out of the car, I pulled the little bundle of hipness out of my purse. I came around and told him I forgot something and shoved it in his hand. He opened it up and low and behold... his dream gift!
He was so happy and I was so happy that he was happy.
In the words of Michael Scott,
"Presents are the best way to show someone how much you care. It is like this tangible thing that you can point to and say 'Hey man, I love you this many dollars-worth'”.
Then we went to dinner and played a new game with the Grubbs fam bam and had a fantastic day!
Mike kept saying that he felt so loved all day. I'm so grateful for everyone that made him feel special. His desk was decorated at work, a few friends took him to lunch and we both had so much fun with his family.
This is him playing with his new toy.

I love him so much.

Just Great Movies

When movies are good, they are the bomb. But a lot of movies are just missing something. Essential points in the plot, movie full of "fluff", limited character development, good humor, the list of movie flaws goes on.
But when there is just a good movie, that has all the essential components, and something artistic or creative it is just great. I love that there are some people who are just genius and they make movies and share their awesomeness with us.
Here is my list of just great movies.
Singing in the rain.
Classic.
And hilarious.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Epic.
I chose this picture because I think Sam is the true hero. Frodo is great, but he didn't carry his BF up a burning mountain, almost dying with fatigue.
My brothers got the special 4 disk edition for all the movies with 3 discs devoted entirely to behind the scenes
I have definitely watched them all.

Phantom of the Opera
I just recently realized how much I love this movie when we borrowed it from Mikes fam and watched it, a few weeks later I borrowed it from my mom because I missed it too much. Good movie. Gerald Butler is the BOMB.com. I just love the end scene when Christine, Phantom and Raul are all singing together and its so intense.

Back to the Future.
Awesome.
I think this picture represents the trilogy well.

500 Days of Summer
So funny and clever. It's truly put together by a genius.

The Princess Bride
This is the kind of movie that you can watch over and over and over and over again. And I have. Still love it.

Spiderman Trilogy
I understand that many will disagree with me on this being on the "great movies list"
But I still love it. They are just good movies although they didn't pick my favorite actress to play Mary Jane. And yes I did like the third one.

The Sixth Sense
I am not a fan of horror movies.
Number one because I get scared at night and won't get out of bed when I have to use the little girls room. Instead I just lay there thinking about how if I put my foot down, a ghost will grab my ankle from under the bed and I will have to go to her funeral and break some tough news to her loving pops.
Number two because they usually have terrible plots.
This one I love. Don't get me wrong, number one still applies. In fact my dad took me to see this in theaters when I was in 4th grade and it terrified me for years.
But it's so good.
My parents have that exact same map hanging in their house.

I know these last two are not movies, but they are genius just the same and so HILARIOUS and great. I love them both till the day I die.
The Office

I declare Monopoly to be the worst game ever.

The thought of it burning to ashes makes me crazy with joy.

I keep thinking of ways to kill the game. Drown it in our fish tank, put a noose around its middle and hang it from the ceiling, stab it through the heart with my filet knife, run it over with my civic, the list goes on.

I even sabotaged my own husband. I gave his last standing opponent my monopolies because I knew it would end the game faster, and I will never be forgiven. Why is it that the most unstrategic game invented can still last 4 hours long?? It's like risk but worse.

It is no where near as cool as this little gem.

And even a little bit less cool than this.

Yes, that is Yu Gi Oh, and Mike and James do seriously play it. This picture makes me laugh hysterically because I honestly don't think I have ever seen Mikes face that angry before. He is pissed that I'm making fun of him. James is not pissed. He looks like a 5 year old on Christmas morning. Go Yu Gi Oh!
(Die a grisly death monopoly)

I have a very strong opinion that..

I have a very strong opinion that if a college computer  professor still types with his index fingers, he should be fired and kicked in the phalanges for not using home row.

I have a very strong opinion that cheesecake ice cream with raspberries, brownies, fudge and chocolate pieces in a freshly baked waffle cone is the best comfort food there is. Forget comfort food, it is THE best food there is.

I have a very strong opinion that Mike was made for me. He deals with me better than I could ever even hope for. Everyday I have so much fun with him.

I have a very strong opinion that Peeta Mellark was named after peeta bread because his parents owned a bakery and loved bread.

I have a very strong opinion that Harry Potter is the shiz. Seriously. There is no one cooler.

I have a very strong opinion that I have the cutest nieces and nephews ever. I want to play with them everyday they are so fun.

I have a very strong opinion that my job is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I Love it.

I have a very strong opinion that a great pair of jeans can make an impact on your life.

I have a very strong opinion that some people are idiots, and I make fun of them for it.

I have a very strong opinion that Mike is too nice.

I have a very strong opinion that Robert Pattinson is incapable of playing any emotion but bored and mentally handicapped.

I have a very strong opinion that you should go to church.

I have a very strong opinion that you are awesome for reading my blog.
