January: I started my teaching program with NAU. I love it!
May: The 2011-2012 school year was definitely a hard year for us. I like to call it "the poor year". We really wanted Mike to focus on his psychology program at ASU, and get it done quickly, so he quit his job. It was hard to survive on my income alone. Luckily we had been saving for two years for tuition, so we pretty much had that covered. We made a budget for ourselves and found out that we could only spend two dollars a day on food for both of us, with no money left for fun or emergencies or even school books. Somehow though, we survived. Mike got a job at Collins Comfort masters in May and worked with them throughout the summer.
June: The school that I work at offered me a position teaching summer school! This was such a great experience that taught me a lot that I will use in the future. I was so impressed with the other teachers always being so willing to help me if I didn't know how to teach a certain topic.
June: We went with Mikes family to visit his sisters family in Alaska. It was beautiful! We got to meet our nephew Daniel for the first time. It was such a good trip, I like travelling with those Grubbs people : ).
July: Went to the cabin for the Porter family reunion. I love the woods.
August: Mike started working as a driver at Medical Transport Company. He really likes it and his boss is his buddy, Ty.
August-December: School and work consumed our lives.
October: We celebrated our third anniversary. I still can't believe that we've been together for three years. It seems like we have been together forever. I love my husband!
October: We changed our life plan. Mike had been planning to go into counseling and start a masters program in fall of 2013. We had been planning on this our entire marriage. In October we scratched that plan because it was too much school and terrible pay. We still don't have a replacement plan for what Mike wants to do for the rest of his life, which is driving us both crazy.
November: We went with my family to California for Thanksgiving. It was such a good trip.
December: Mike graduated from ASU! I am so so proud. He worked so hard and he did so good. He graduated with a 4.0 gpa. We have zero debt which I still don't know how we managed to do. We are so blessed.
Some other moments from 2012...
2013 terrifies me! We will have a lot of big changes this year. Mike will hopefully decide his future career, and more schooling if necessary. Right now he is thinking about law school, yikes! I will start teaching in the fall with my very own class. And I will graduate in December. Farewell 2012, you were great to us!
